We held our Spring Garland Class this morning. It was a big success. We had a lot of fun and I think everyone who attended did also. I got to show the ladies how to make several new flowers. Everybody was a little nervous about it but they all did great. This pic shows everyone hard at work. We showed our next class project and we had several people already sign up. I'm excited. This next project is even better. We will be posting about it soon. I guess it time to get to back to work on my own projects.

Baby Shower Gift
I've been busy make baby shower gifts for the last couple of weeks. Here is the gift I made for a dear friend of our family. Lauren is like a little sister to me. I wanted to do something different so I got my creative cap on and here is what came from all that thinking..LOL! I orginally had seen lollipops made out of the receiving blankets, but I decided to used them as a center in a flower and from that idea came this bouquet, the smaller flowers are baby washcloths. Second part of the gift is a baby wipe case. Lauren and Blake are sports fanatics and really like baseball so I used that theme on the case. I covered it in fabric and added Maya Road letters and cut the player from vinyl using my Cricut. I really like how this came out. I followed everything up with a card and gift bag. I really like the tag made from a craft envelope from Maya Road. I added some fun embellishments on the bag like rosettes, ribbon, and metal. I'm proud of this project and hope she likes everything. Lauren is going to make a wonderful mom and I'm so happy for her.

Cute as a Cupcake card
I love this card! I got this idea from a bib I saw while shopping with Prissy & Krissy. I made it for a baby shower we were going too. I cut the cupcake from Sweet Treats by Cricut and used German glass glitter on the cake part so it gave it the appearance of frosting and added some bling. I used a baby washcloth as the candle and used Stickles on the wick. The expectant mother loved her card which made me really happy.
Pictures from my day of culture
Here are some pictures from my full Sunday of cultural events. It was really fun to do something different. First we went to the Laos New Year celebration. The first pic is of our friends daughter who participated in the dancing. She was so cute. I asked her if she was tired of taking pictures and she said "yes, I haven't got to sit down." The second picture shows everyone walking to Temple, and the third shows a picture of their outside altar. The colors of everyone's outfits were so vibrant. Everyone was so welcoming and the food was great. We tried lots of new things. The last picture is of my dad and his drumming group. The library was debuting a new novel about Native Americans and they thought it would be great to have story telling and singing with this event. My dad loves to sing and I'm glad he has found friends in our area that share his interest because I know he misses his family and singing with them back on our reservation. We were wiped out by the time we came home but it also great to reflect back today on all the fun we had yesterday. I can't wait to do some sort of layouts with these pictures.

Cultural Events
Today is about cultural events in Amarillo. I made a sign in book for a baby shower this weekend and met the family I made it for and found out they have an Asian background. They have invited me and my sister and her boyfriend Joe to Temple today to celebrate the Chinese New Year which we have been told its the Water holiday and to expect to get wet. Second we are going to an event which my dad is having where he will be singing with his Native American drum group he has created. It's always exciting to do something different. I am seeing some fun layouts being created from these events today.

Copic Training
This is a picture of the cards we made in our Copic class. Frank was a great instructor. He really gave us a lot of good information. On these particular cards he taught us about shading. I have had a set of Copic markers that Tammy gave me awhile back. I have used them but did know of all the possibilities. I hope to learn more about these markers.

Spring Bouquet Snowglobe
Here it is...my Spring Bouquet Snowglobe I made over the weekend at The Crafty Scrapper in Waxahachie, TX. We enjoy this class so much and had a blast with our instructor Trish and our new friends. I really enjoyed that it was a small class of four so we really got lots of attention. I'm always nervous when I hear the word "solder". I'm still in the learning process. We made everything on this globe except for the butterfly. I think I'm getting a hang of it but it still can be very nerve racking. I hope to do some more of this. Off to start on a few new projects. Wish me luck...til next time!

Wore Out
Well we survived our exciting day at The Crafty Scrapper. We learned alot and had alot of fun. Our first class we made a Spring Bouquet Snowglobe. I had so much fun making this. It was a small group which I think made it even better and the other ladies were so much fun. I will post pics of it as soon as I get home. Our next class covered the basics of Copic markers. This class we really had to pay attention. We were amazed at the new techniques we learned with our makers. We made a couple of samples. I will post those too. We were so tired when we got back to the cottage. I went to bed early. I think Prissy & I have decided today is going to be our lazy day. I'm kinda of excited about that! LOL! The best part of the day was when The Crafty Scrapper staff gave me my first designer's kit. I was told to see what I could come up with with the supplies they gave me. I'm really excited about this opporunity. Unitl next time...have a great day!

Voyage to Dallas
Where here I sit at Conrad Cottage. Prissy and I made our way here yesterday. Both of us are really tired and agreed that it was a really long trip. We didn't think we were ever going to get here but we did and are very excited. We have plans to take a couple of classes on Saturday at The Crafty Scrapper. Another reason I'm really excited is they will have my first kit on hand for me to design for them. I definitely appreciate this opporunity. The rest of the time we are here we are just going to wing it. We may have PJ day which is always fun to lay around and relax and maybe craft alitttle. Conrad Cottage always tends to put you in a calming and relaxed mood. Alittle shopping is always a definite when we are here so who knows whats going to happen but I know its always a fun time so I will keep you updated on our activities. We miss our friend Tammy who is going to NASCAR this weekend so we should all have some stories when we hook back up

Great Friends
Here are my partners in crime...Tammy & Prissy! We have lots of fun rather it be crafting or other social activities. We have been told we are the funniest people this side of Abilene. Me and Prissy are very vocal while Tammy pretends to be the quiet one...whatever! You never know what is going to happen or what we will come up with when we put our brains together...you just know its going to be fun. We usually like to put our brains to work over a spirited beverage which brings you to the reason our company is called Happy Hour Crafts. Stay tuned for more fun, more laughs from me and the ladies and I used the term ladies very loosely...LOL!!
Learning
Well Tammy, Prissy & I sat down and tried to figure this blog thing out. We add a few new things to our sites. Hopefully we will learn more as we go along. It was a great evening! I'm really excited that I learned how to add a playlist to my site. Short blog entry for now but more to come later..

Day of the Dead Journal
I finished up this journal today. I was excited to use my new Bombshell Stamps. They make some really neat Day of the Dead stamps. I heat embossed them onto metal and colored with my Copic markers. I couldn't decide how to arrange them so a lightbulb went off in my head. I cut them out and clued them to some trinket pins from Maya Road and used them as embellishments to my flower. I can't wait to do more with my stamps.
Day of Learning
I'm looking forward to today. I'm getting together with Tammy & Prissy and seeing what we can do to update our blogs. I want to learn how to add some features to my site. I have tried to figure it out on my own without success so its time to bring in the troops. Hopefully by putting our heads together we can figure this out. So stay tuned...
