Skull Appreciation Blog Hop
It's finally here! My first blog hop! I'm really excited to showcase some of my projects. I have several friends who love Day of the Dead skulls and so this hop could not have come at a better time. They are both celebrating their birthdays so I've been able to create a few projects using this theme and surprise them with some great gifts.
First is a birthday card I made for my friend Rin. I used Sugar Skull stamps from Bombshell Stamps which are quickly becoming some of my favorite stamps. I used Copic markers to color and Stickles to add a little bling. All the cardstock used is from DCWV. I did make all the flowers on this card. The first one I used is the Rosette diecut from Tim Holtz. On the second flower I used the Tattered flower diecut also from Tim Holtz, cut from grunge board and accented with distress ink and micro beads. The last flower is made from twine. I saw a similar flower at Michaels and knew I could easily make my own version so here it is and used pearls as my center. I took a bling swirl and a happy birthday stamp from Studio G to finish it off.
My second project is this wall hanging. I was able to use one of my favorite supplies....metal!! Both the metal and the Day of the Dead Skull are from Ten Seconds Studio. I embossed it onto silver metal, colored with Copic makers then took German glass glitter and mirco beads to jazz it up. Glitter and micro beads can bring any project to life. I attached the skull to a piece of acrylic which I stamped with Staz On and Pearl Pens. I made all these flowers on this piece using the Tattered flower diecut , which I think is becoming my new best friend. LOL! All the flowers are made from grunge board and I colored them using distress inks and accented with micro beads. The rose can be a challenge to make but I found a very simple tutorial on YouTube. I think the rose adds a special touch to any project. I then took tulle and made a hanger and attached a bow to the base of the project and added a pin I found at my local flea market. I really enjoyed making this project.
I appreciate you stopping by and hope you enjoyed viewing my projects. Please leave me a comment. I would love to hear from you. I've really enjoyed my first blog hop and hope it's not my last. Enjoy the rest of blog

Freddie, first of all I am thrilled that you are a part of this hop! Even happier that it's your first! I knew you would make something incredible for it and i was right! Both of your projects rock! I am not really a flower on cards person, but I am coveting your little petal-y creations! Especially that rosette on the 1st card! You are super talented, and i hope you will continue to play with us at S&S!
WOW, excellent projects - and lucky friends to get one of your creations! Both your projects are beautiful. Just beautiful!
Gorgeous projects, Freddie! I too am a huge fan of Dia de los Muertos and your sugar skull creations are really fabulous. Had to laugh about the twine flower. I was at M's yesterday and sid the same thing to myself but I bought the already made ones 'cause they were 40% off. (Lazy me who can't resist a bargain.) Yours is nicer, though. xxD
Fabulous card and wall-hanging!!
WOW - cool projects Freddie. Great to see it's your first Hop too. Well done.
