Getting Excited

Taking a few minutes to get you updated on what's going on.  My new job is going well I was able to finish my basic hospital training early so I have a long weekend.  My department training starts on Tuesday so this gives me lots of time to craft.  I'm really excited about one thing.  I signed up for my first blog hop with Smeared and Smudged.  If you don't know what a blog hop is...I didn't either....LOL!!  It is where crafters get together and showcase projects.  Someone picks a theme or item, in this case they have picked skulls, and you can go from blog to blog and few everybody's ideas.  Prissy and I both signed up and have been working on our projects.  It's a great way to get your projects seen.  The blog hop is happening on June 4th.  We encourage everyone to take a look.  You don't have to have a blog you can just view everybody's projects.  I will get more details out to you.  Until then...onto crafting

New Adventure

Well today I sit here a little nervous with a new adventure awaiting me. I start a new job tomorrow at NWTH which is a local hospital here in town. It has been eighteen months since I've worked a full time job. I am excited about this new venture. Something new to fill my time. I hopefully have found a place where I am appreciated and I appreciate them. My last job I just totally lost respect for the company. I had never seen a company really care less for their employees than this company. I have not really bashed this company and will continue not too. It was best for both of us to go our separate ways. It has taken me along time to heal from some of the pain I went through with them. I know I have more to work through which is the reason for me being a little nervous about my new job. I have enjoyed my little break. I have had fun getting to know my craft on a personal basis. It really has become one of my best friends. The new job will cut back on some of my crafting but I know I will still find the time to create. My crafting is my therapy and "me" time. I attended a crop over the weekend and starting working on my project for the Skull Appreciation Blog Hop with Smeared and Smudged. I can't wait for this hop. It will be my first. I just kept thinking to myself I need to learn to cherish this time and enjoy myself. My schedule is about to get busy so hopefully I can stay on top of all my projects so stay tuned. Wish me luck!

Bombshell Birthday Card

Happy Birthday Kasey!!  Here is the birthday card I made for her using a Bombshell Stamp.  Kasey is one of my younger friends and she turns 21 today.  How many of you remember your 21st birthday?  Me either..LOL!  We are taking the girl out today to show her how the grown ups do it, but I have a feeling she already knows how.  I did try something new on this card and used micro beads on the body of the bombshell.  Very fun to use and I think adds a little something special to the card.  I also made both flowers.  The first is made out of twine.  I saw this same flower at Michaels and thought to myself, "I think I can make this." And I did..yeah for me!  The second is from Maya Road, it is the pleated ribbon trim.  I love the look of these flowers. Well onto the party, hope I survive.  Thanks for stopping by and onto the next project for me.

Skull Pendants

I'm having some fun on a Sunday afternoon.  I saw this idea on the Bombshell Stamps forum and thought it was a great idea.  I have a friend who loves Day of the Dead skulls. She also enjoys making her own jewerly so I thought what a great gift this would make for her.  I made one pendant by just stamping it and coloring it with Copic markers and highlighted it with Stickles.  The second is a heart pendant. I also used Copic markers on it then I used clear UTEE to fill in the charm.  This is my first attempt at this and had a great time.  I've been playing with my melting pot but just been playing...no real projects till now.  I plan on making her a few more charms.  I will post those pictures soon.  I'm going to play with some colored UTEE.  So I guess I better get to work.  Till next time

Spring Break Album

I'm very excited about this project.  This is the first design project that was given to me from The Crafty Scrapper.  I visited the store and I was given my kit with my supplies.  This included a clear cylinder tube, cardstock and some embellishments.  I was told to see what I could do.  It took me several days but I finally came up with an idea.  I wanted to use the cylinder tube as the binding to an album.  I had some help from Prissy on what I could do with the inside of the tube.  I noticed the cardstock they provided had either a water or beach theme. I filled the cylinder with small shells and glittered, and copic colored some trinket pins. Of the new products I got to play with the funniest had to be the new Zipper Trim from Maya Road.  I love all the cool things you can do with it. My next issue was coming up with pictures to go with this album. I remembered that my friend Misty and her family has recently been to the beach for their Spring Break.  I contacted her and asked if I could use some of their pictures.  It also helped that they are a very attractive family.  She was so excited when I asked her which made me very happy.  This is the finally product.  This album is being delievered to the store by my friend Tammy.  I'm excited to see what they think of the album.  The Crafty Scrapper will be posting this to their blog so I can't wait for everyone to see it.  I did take it by Misty's to show her before I sent it on its way and she was very pleased.  Misty and her family are very special.  They have gone through a lot the last year.  So much that I don't know if I could have overcome what they have gone through.  I know it all had to do with their faith.  I look at this family in amazement.  At a time when I was doubting myself and my faith I had Misty and her family show me all I had to do was believe.  I sit here crying feeling bad for myself and for what they had to go through the last year and realize I have so much to be thankful for.  I am truely blessed.  Thank you Misty for showing me that through prayer and faith anything is possible.  You truely are one of the most beautiful person I know inside and out. Okay pull yourself together..LOL!  Wipe the tears and onto another project.  Amen!

Birthday Card

This card idea came from a Sketch challenge.  I follow the forum on Bombshell Stamps and this is this months Sketch Challenge.  I have never done this before but I saw this challenge and I knew I had to try.  I had so many ideas running through my mind.  I made this card for a dear friend who loved my Bombshell Stamps when she saw them.  I'm posting this and wondering if she can figure out who she is because I probably won't give it to her till next week.  Her birthday was last week...I'm such a bad friend..LOL!  I have a couple other surprises in store for her.  Thanks for stopping in and please let me know what you think of my card.

Mother's Day Card

Well I got something done today.  I finished my Mother's Day card.  I figured I better get this done because I had several others to get done for a family and friends.  I got the card done but now the gift.  My sister and I still don't really know what to get her.  We usually try to come up with something special.  I love the card.  I covered the entire piece of cardstock with what Prissy calls "sugar glitter".  It's our new friend.  I then made a grunge board flower using seed beads as my center and Tim Holtz tissue tape to make the rosette.  We hope we make this special day for mom because she always makes us feel special. This is a picture of mom and her bike we gave her for her birthday last year.  Love ya Mom!  Onto more projects.
