Birthday Card for Rob

Welcome back!!  Here is a birthday card for my friend Rob. He is one of those surprise friendships. Most people would never see this friendship working but as time as gone on we have found we have many things in common. He can make me laugh. I also admire his faith which is shown in this card. Rob has always liked my projects using mixed media so of course I knew I had to use this on his card. There is something unique with this card. Several months back Rob wrote this scripture down for me and asked me to use it on a previous project he ordered. I kept looking at the napkin and told myself to keep it. So in the creating process it finally came to mind that I wanted to use it, I tried several different processes but finally successfully got his hand written scripture transferred onto his card.  I gave him his card and told him what I had done, he had to look twice and said "that is my handwriting". Just got a text that he really like his card. I think with his help this card came out perfect.

Every time card

Drum roll please....first card to make it into my personal hall of fame favorites. This was a special order card, ordered by a very special person. She ordered with intentions of giving it to someone else and that has changed, so I centered this card around her.  She has a talent like no other.  Her voice has the power to bring you to your feet and your hands in the air. I fell into a funk and didn't feel like crafting for a few weeks but this project changed that. I used my inspiration from Christy Tomlinson and created this one of a kind mixed media card.  The more I worked on it, the more I felt at ease and just sat back and created. I worked on the background one day with card stock, paints, gesso and paint mist. I guess this project stayed with me all day because that night I dreamed of how I wanted to finish this card off.  Thankfully it all came together.  I think it fits her perfectly because when she sings it definitely is magical. I can't wait to give it to her!  I got my mojo back and I'm ready to craft!  Thanks for stopping by and come back!  Holidays projects posted soon.

Halloween Pop-up Card

I had another order come in for a birthday card. I went with my most current obsession and created a Halloween pop-up card. A friend at work requested this for her son who was born on Halloween. She sent me her greeting via email and was so heart felt that it made us all tear up. She absolutely loved how it came out. I was excited to hear this. Thanks for stopping by and please let me know what you think of this card. Till next time!

Thought for Today

I have some projects in process in the studio. I came across this quote on Pinterest and it definitely fits my mood most days. I created this blog to display my projects, and to show my joy of crafting. Working on a project is my therapy and does calm me down when I feel like the world around me is out of control. Please stop back by soon, I'm hoping to have some new items posted soon.

Pop up greeting card

I found this awesome tutorial by Brenda Bliss for a pop up box and I had to give it a try. I instantly knew I wanted to use this as a greeting card for a friend. My friend was throwing a birthday party for her daughter and asked me to make a card. I knew this would be perfect. I included some pictures and included a tag so that she could sign with a personalized message. They both loved it which made me really happy. I have a feeling I will be making a few more of these. Thanks for stopping by!  More projects to come!

Tri-State Fair Entries

Hello everybody!  I am alive!  I've been really busy in the craft room. All my attention has been on getting my entries made for the fair. My first project is two shadow boxes hinged together to create an album. My second entry is a flower bouquet made from recycled items like coke cans and newspaper, and plastic forks. I love it!!  My last entry is a shadow box made for my friend Prissy. She was the person who introduced me into mixed media so it was only fitting that I created her shadow box using this technique. I also had some items from her home that burnt down which she didn't know about. So a lot of the ribbon, twine, buttons and spoon are from her old craft room. I think it came out amazing. I hope she loves it and I hope I can tell her it won a blue ribbon at the fair. Wish me luck!!

Picture Frames

I know it has been awhile but I have been really busy. Feeling very blessed that custom orders have been coming in. Here is one of those orders. I had a friend bring me four frames and asked me to decorate them for her. She also provided the quotes she wanted on the frames. I'm glad she trusted me enough to do my own thing. If you have seen some of my projects you know I'm addicted to mixed media, so I had to include this on a couple of the frames. The other two I used what I call my vintage bling style. I can't wait till she sees them. I hope she loves them too.   I have a few more ideas rolling around in my head I can't wait to share. Thanks for stopping by!

More Father's Day Cards

Here are just a few more examples of my Father's Day cards. The first was a special order from a co-worker. It was for her son who is a single dad. She wanted something extra special, and wanted to use some personal photos. I love how these folded cards always come together. She emailed me and said he loved it!  Second card was made for a friend, he asked if I was making him a card.  Told him he wasn't my dad but I would see what I could do. I used some metal from Ten Seconds Studio and created this one of a kind card. He thought it was cool. It's always great when you hear people appreciate your work. Well I'm off to finish a special order project, pictures to come soon. Thanks for coming by!

Wow!  Has this been a busy season?!  I have been pleasantly surprised how many orders I got for Father's Day. Here are a few samples of the cards I made. My mixed media cards seem to be the most popular. I think I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.  All my orders are finished and shipped. I have to thank everyone for their support. Now to move onto my next project.  A friend has requested something special, I can't wait to get started. Till next time!

Celebrating Spirit

I am so excited to share this project!  A friend asked me to take his daughter's graduation invitation and make something for her. I instantly pictured a shadow box. I know I drove poor Rob nuts with questions because I had never met his daughter.  This is always hard, I wanted to make it special but how do I do that when I don't know her. I happen to remember a card I made several weeks ago called "Be Brave", which reminded me to take some chances and just have fun with this project. I studied the invitation, did a little Facebook stalking..lol!, and just started working. It all just really came together. I looked down at this finished project and had no idea where this idea came from. The Sugar Skull stamps are from Bombshell Stamps and represent the rock and roll edge of her dad and her fighting spirit to just be her fun loving self.  From what I've seen and heard about this special girl she is strong with a soft heart, and wants to be the first to make any situation better which is represented by the handmade flowers. Looking at her Facebook page the first thing that stands out is her wrist tattoo which says "Be The Change", I had to include this on a mini banner. That statement says everything I feel you need to know about her. I feel her spirit just jumps from this layout. The quote is from The Black Crowes and I think fits her dad's feelings for her perfectly. He definitely is a proud dad.  Rob you have raised one amazing, uplifting, loving young lady.  I have to say this is now my favorite project of all time. I shed a few tears when I had to let it go, but I knew it was meant to be with Averi. I hope it always reminds her how special she is, and how much her dad loves her. So...Averi welcome to my personal hall of fame where you hold the #1 spot and have titled your shadow box "Celebrating Spirit".

My Mother's Day card

Here is a picture of the card I made for my mom.  She absolutely love it which made me super happy. I included lots of her favorite things...birds and flowers. I also included some wire wrapping which I saw on Pinterest. I'm very lucky to have my mom. She would do anything for me and loves me unconditionally. She supports me in all my craft making and will even sit with me all day at a craft show. I love her, and hope she knows how much we appreciate and love her. Thanks for stopping by!

Mother's Day Cards

It has been really busy. Lots and lots of orders for cards. We all want to make our mothers feel special on her special day. It was kinda crazy that before I could make up some cards, I already had orders coming in. Feeling very blessed and honored that so many people have asked for one of my cards. I definitely enjoy this craft but sometimes I don't know what to think when people keep telling me I'm going to be famous. I just makes me feel good that someone is really appreciating my projects. I will be posting my Mom's card soon. It's still in the works. Thanks again everybody for your support and keep the orders coming. Happy Mother's Day to all!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hate being sick

I hate it! I hate it! This dang cold has really gotten the best of me. I'm having craft room withdraws. I'm afraid to go in there in fear of spreading my germs, but I have some large orders to fill. I'm hoping by this weekend that I can get in there. I've got no paint or glitter on my hands and I don't know what to do. Hopefully I will be seeing all of you soon!

Tattered Flower Challenge

Tim Holtz has issued out a challenge using his tattered flower die. I just had to take part. It was a perfect time to start this project that's been running through my head for awhile. This is the cover to a shadow box album I am making. The tattered flower die was the perfect tool to use to decorate this cover. I used two shadow boxes from Maya Road. More pictures to come soon. Exciting News

I was really excited when the gift shop at the hospital I work at asked if they could carry some of my products. Some of them had received one of my candy bar sliders for Valentines day, and asked if I could make some of these for Easter. I delivered these to the shop and they were very happy. I was even more excited when they saw my card and posted it on their Facebook page. These are some great ladies. 30 Sucks

Another fun project completed. This was a special order from a co-worker. She and her friend are celebrating the big 3-0 this year. They are still babies. Lol! I found this idea on Pinterest and gave it my own spin. I created a mixed media box for the base. I made the sign using my Cricut and Storybook cartridge. I cut up some red tissue paper, rolled it up and crushed it in my hand then applied it on the inside using my glue gun. I love how this all came together. Michelle emailed me to let me know her friend loved it. This made me very happy. Thanks for stopping by! Happy Monday everybody!

Valentine Candy Bar Sliders

Hi everyone! My craft room has been a little busy. It didn't help that I took a few days off to mourn with one of my dearest friends who lost her home in a fire. I can't imagine this loss, and I wish I could take this pain and sadness from her. I went back to the craft room to try and get my mind off things but found myself crying and crafting. Who does this? I finally took a deep breathe and got to work. I created these candy bar sliders which were really popular last year. I had to refresh myself on the instructions by watching some YouTube videos. I just searched candy bar sliders and voila! There were my tutorials. Well I'm off to fill some orders, thanks for stopping by!!

Valentine Chapstick Tag

I created a unique way to give that favorite tube of Chapstick as a great gift. I took a tag and using stamps, distress inks and a embossing folder created this one of a kind tag. I think it would be a perfect accent to any gift. I cut out 1" hearts on my Cricut to make the flower and attached a pearl for the center. Heart and lip stamps are from Stampabilities, alphabet stamp set is from Close To My Heart. I created the holder from spare ribbon attaching with my Mini Attache stapler from Ranger. I hope you like this idea and thanks again for stopping by!

It's a New Year

I cannot believe how fast time is flying. Can you believe it's 2013?! The beginning of my year didn't start out so hot. I haven't been feeling so great but I think that's finally coming to an end and I'm feeling human again. This means I haven't been in the craft room but I feel it calling me. I definitely have some ideas rolling around in my head. On a great note, I did receive an email that I have another card getting published by Scrapbooking.com. It's always great when someone else finds your work worth showcasing. I'm hoping for lots of craft time and some great projects to come out of my craft room. I've also decided to get more involved in the craft show circuit. Thanks again for everyone's support, and keep checking back for some exciting projects.
